COATINGS
FOR INDUSTRIAL FLOORINGS
IRIS Vernici offers a series of coatings for finishing and protection
of
industrial floorings to satisfy the most different needs. These
systems are
designed for application in industry (mechanical, chemical, food,
warehouses), in public buildings (supermarkets, airports, cinemas,
stations) and residential buildings (garages, canteens, transit
areas)
Purethan and Eposol 794 coatings can also be applied
for wall coating,
where very high resistance to chemicals and washing are required:
· PURETHAN
2K aliphatic PUR coating
· SISTEMA STARFLOOR MULTICOLORE
PUR coating with multicoloured finish (granite look)
· EPOSOL 794
Epoxy coating with high resistance to chemicals and acids
· EPOSOL 794 ANTISKID
Antiskid epoxy coating for industrial
· EPOSOL 195 SL
Self-levelling epoxy coating for floorings
Different primers are also available for different
substrates:
· EPOSOL PRIMER 100
Epoxy primer for steel, aluminum, stainless steel and zinc-coated
steel
· EPOSOL PRIMER 101
Epoxy primer for concrete
In the following pages a brief description is given
of the different systems
available and some hints for application. Further details are
reported in the
relevant datasheets.
SUBSTRATE PRETREATMENT
CONCRETE
a) SUBSTRATE PREPARATION:
- Substrate must be free from oils and grease, in
case clean with proper
solvents.
- Substrate must be clean and free from dust. Even for new pavements
provide proper cleaning.
- In some instances washing the surface with a solution 5 % hydrocloric
acid in water is useful, followed by rinsing and thorough drying.
- In case of treatment or washing
with water, few minutes after the
operation, remove water completely (e.g. with a vacuum device)
and make
sure of complete drying before starting application of primer.
It is
recommended to keep the environment at 20 °C for 48 hours
or to check
moisture with a conductivity meter.
b) PRIMER APPLICATION:
- On dry substrate apply by brush or roller one coat
of EPOSOL PRIMER
101.
Usage approx. 100 g/m2.
STEEL
a) SUBSTRATE PREPARATION:
- Substrate must be free from oils and grease, in
case clean with proper
solvents.
- Substrate must be free from rust. Friable part must be removed
and the
whole surface brushed or sandpapered. In the presence of heavy
rusting
sandblasting may be required.
b) PRIMER APPLICATION:
- On dry substrate apply by brush, roller or airmix
spray one coat of
EPOSOL PRIMER 100.
Usage approx. 100 g/m2.
POLYURETHANE FLOORING
PURETHAN
Pavement coating system with high resistance to abrasion
and washing.
- 24 hours after application of primer (EPOSOL PRIMER
100 or EPOSOL
PRIMER 101) apply one or two coats of PURETHAN
(glossy or flat). Usage
150/200 g/m2 per coat.
- Application of two coats is recommended, for a final dry thickness
of
approx. 200 mm.
- It is recommended that a maximum of 2-3 days is allowed after
primer
and topcoat application. If more than 7 days are passed, it is
recommended
to sandpaper the surface to improve adhesion.
- The pavement can be put in service 7/10 days after the end
of the
application, provided that a room temperature of 20 °C has
been
maintained.
- It is to avoid application with room temperature lower than
10 °C and when
risk of freezing or moisture condensation exist. Avoid wetting
with water
before drying is completed.
MULTICOLOURED POLYURETHANE FLOORING
PURETHAN + STARFLOOR
Pavement coating system with high
resistance to abrasion and
washing, with multicoloured finish.
- 24 hours after application of primer (EPOSOL PRIMER
100 or EPOSOL
PRIMER 101) apply one coat of PURETHAN.
Usage 150/200 g/m2 per coat.
- After 12 hours apply by airmix spray one coat of STARFLOOR.
Usage from 300 to 500 g/m2 depending
on aspect requested.
- After 48-72 hours (thorough drying) smooth the surface with
soft
sandpaper and accurately clean.
- Apply two coats (12 hours in between) of clear topcoat PURETHAN
TRASPARENTE. Usage 200-250 g/m2.
EPOXY FLOORING
EPOSOL 794
Pavement coating system with high resistance to chemicals.
- 24 hours after application of primer (EPOSOL PRIMER
100 or EPOSOL
PRIMER 101) apply two coats of EPOSOL 794,
2K epoxy, Usage 300 g/m2.
- When mixing A and B components accurately stir and apply before
end of
pot-life. Never change mixing ratios.
- The pavement can be put in service 7/10 days after the end
of the
application, provided that a room temperature of 20 °C has
been
ANTISKID EPOXY FLOORING
EPOSOL 794 ASK
Antiskid pavement
coating system for wet industrial
environments, with high resistance to abrasion and chemicals.
- 24 hours after application of primer (EPOSOL PRIMER
100 or EPOSOL
PRIMER 101) apply two coats of EPOSOL 794 ASK, 2K epoxy including
a
silica antiskid agent, Usage 300
g/m2
resin + 125 g/m2
antiskid agent.
- The pavement can be put in service 7/10 days after the end
of the
application, provided that a room temperature of 20 °C has
been
maintained. Lower temperatures considerably increase time for
hardening.
SELF-LEVELLING EPOXY FLOORING
EPOSOL 195 SL
Self-levelling resin flooring for industrial pavements.
- 24 hours after application of primer (EPOSOL PRIMER
100 or EPOSOL
PRIMER 101) apply one coat by spatula of EPOSOL
195 SL.
- The product levels off, coating defects of pavement and forming
a smooth
surface. The pavement must be flat to avoid leakage or pooling.
- Mixing is done immediately before use with a powerful mixing
tool. Pot-life
after mixing is 30 minutes.
- To improve gloss and scratch resistance a topcoat with PURETHAN
can be
applied within 4 days from end of application.
